Dr Mario Gomar Alba
Dr Mario Gomar Alba is a Consultant Neurosurgeon, with experience in the assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the spine, brain and nervous system. He sees patients with slipped discs, sciatica, lumbar spinal stenosis, neuralgia, nerve injuries and certain tumour-related or compressive conditions, carrying out an individual assessment in every case.
During the consultation, he reviews the medical history, neurological examination and available imaging tests — such as MRI scans, CT scans and neurophysiological studies — to guide the diagnosis and discuss the most appropriate treatment options. His aim is to provide patients with clear information and, whenever possible, to consider conservative options before recommending surgery.
He holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Almería, awarded First-Class Honours (Cum Laude), and completed a Fellowship in Microneurosurgery and Skull Base Surgery in Argentina between 2024 and 2025.
His advanced training in microsurgery, neuroendoscopy and spinal surgery enables him, where appropriate, to use minimally invasive techniques designed to reduce surgical trauma, support recovery and improve quality of life. He provides close follow-up before and after treatment, working in coordination with other specialists — including orthopaedics, rehabilitation, neurology and pain management services — whenever a case requires it.
